Best Blow-N-Go Breathalyzer in Arkansas
Getting a DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) in Arkansas is a very stressful event. Now you are at the point of needing to have an ignition interlock, also known as a car breathalyzer, device installed in your vehicle.
What device do you buy? Where do you buy it? What is expected of you moving forward?
Discount Interlock is one of the most trusted names in interlock device installation in Northwest, AR. We are committed to helping you answer these questions and getting your vehicle back on the road so that you can get on with your life.
What exactly is an interlock system? It is a device slightly larger than the normal cell phone wired to the car’s ignition. The purpose of the ignition interlock device (IID) is to detect someone’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level before turning the ignition to start the vehicle.
After inserting the key into the ignition, a voice prompt requests the driver to provide a breath sample. Within 60 seconds, the driver inhales deeply and exhales into the device; this is commonly referred to as blow and go. Analysis of a person’s blood alcohol level takes about 10 seconds or less. The voice prompt then notifies the driver if he or she can start the car or if another sample is required.
Often these breath samples must be provided right away to ensure that another person is not blowing into the device for you. The device may require continuous random samples. This is to make sure that you do not drink any alcohol after providing the original breath sample. You may also be asked to blow again to ensure that there has been no tampering with of the device. If you are prompted to blow into the device, you MUST comply.
If you fail the retest, a voice prompt orders the driver to pull over. Failure to comply with this order will have the car honking with blinking lights until the driver complies. Additionally, if you fail a retest your vehicle your car will not start; this is called a “lock out.”
A lock out would also occur if you do not have your system calibrated by Springdale Interlock Device by the service date which is every 60 days. If you are locked out of your vehicle because you did not have your system calibrated, you will be charged to get a lockout code.
